New Stone Washing Tumbler!

TriStar Knives now has a new tumbler for stone washing knife blades. Seems to be doing the job well. For those of you who may be new to the knife scene, stone washing is basically exactly what it sounds like. Knife blades are put into the tumbler and then tumbled with an abrasive material. In this case, that abrasive material is rocks.

Now I know what you’re probably thinking…

What!? Why would you do that? Doesn’t it dull the blade?

Fear not! This is done before the blade is sharpened to a razor-like edge and as long as you know what you’re doing during the heat treat, the blade is at no risk of breaking. Stonewashing and etching the blade can provide a less reflective finish, which can make the knife appear aged.
