TriStar Knives Shop Build Begins!

I haven’t been working on knives for the past two weeks. I dedicated to finally start the project of converting an old out building we have into a designated knife shop for TriStar Knives.

The building I’ve been working out of is just a general storage building for everything that doesn’t belong in the house. It was one long open room, which was hard to contain the dust from the grinder. This building will have the machine room separate from the layout and finishing room.

I believe this building was built in the same time period as the house, which is well over 100 years old. The progress is steady, but filled with challenges. Luckily, it’s small enough to somewhat quickly tear down entire walls and have them completely reframed in a single day. I have run into a few foundation issues that slowed me down a little more than expected.

Grinder cabinet lower dust collector is finished. I’m going to make the expanded metal upper section and wire the grinder and overhead light. I’m crossing my fingers the air quality is noticeably better. I skipped out on a tilt out chute that would be used in place of a water bucket. I may still add that feature later.

I’m excited to get back to making knives soon in a shop that is setup for making the process more efficient.

If you’re patiently waiting for a knife that I have started for you, or will be starting for you, I haven’t forgotten about you. I’ll be back to it soon!! I will post my next progress updates soon.
